Imperial Hotel Frank Lloyd Wright Suite tour

WAAJ sustaining members were given a special treat: a private tour of the Imperial Hotel's new Frank Lloyd Wright Suite, followed by coffee in the Old Imperial Bar. Designed in conjunction with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the extraordinary suite features Wright-style rooms and reproductions of Wright furniture and fixtures from such famed residences as the Robie House and the Susan Dana Thomas House. There's even a library with many books on Wright and architecture.

The tour was led by Yasuhiro Maeda, Imperial Hotel deputy general manager, and the project's lead architect, Hiroyuki Kimura of Ando Corp. The men were able to answer wide-ranging questions about the design and construction process, but did not offer special discounts so that WAAJ members could afford to spend the night sometime.
